AquaTrace aims to develop molecular tools to monitor the genetic impact of farmed fish on wild populations. By utilizing advanced genomic methods, the project will assess the effects of genetic introgression on fish fitness, ultimately supporting sustainable aquaculture practices.
The genetic changes associated with domestication in aquaculture pose an increasing threat to the integrity of native fish gene pools.
