This research explores the self-assembly of new materials using anisotropic colloids and investigates the crystallization mechanisms in water. The goal is to enhance understanding of nanostructure formation and the unique properties of water.
The proposed research project aims to studyself-assembly of new materials made of anisotropic colloids as building blocks and to unravel the mechanism of crystallization in molecular liquids, such as water.The last few decades have seen a huge growth in the research on novel soft materials to be exploited in nanotechnology, and an efficient route to build them is to make use of self-assembly.
