This project aims to create an innovative nanostructured membrane for water filtration that reduces fouling and operating costs. By integrating this technology into existing systems, it seeks to enhance the efficiency of water treatment processes.
Water-stress in an increasing global problem and solutions such as water recycling and seawater desalination are nowbecoming a necessary part of the water infrastructure.
The technology for the production of safe drinking is increasinglydependent on these more diverse sources and a key enabling technology is membrane filtration.
While membrane systemare effective, the operating costs of such systems are hampered by fouling which increases the energy requirement forprocess operation.
