The AnceStra project investigates the socio-anthropological perspectives on the repatriation of ancestral remains from former colonies. It focuses on understanding the meanings attributed to these remains by various groups in Europe and Africa, aiming to foster dialogue and address postcolonial reparation issues.
Over the past years, the return of cultural objects and human remains from former European colonies housed in museums and universities worldwide has been repeatedly described as the most central topic in the cultural heritage sector today.
