AMBER focuses on addressing river fragmentation in Europe by developing adaptive management strategies for barriers like dams and weirs. The project aims to improve stream connectivity while considering the ecological and socio-economic trade-offs involved.
Rivers rank among some of the most threatened ecosystems in the world, and are the focus of costly restoration programmes that cost billions to taxpayers.
