ALPHEUS aims to enhance the efficiency of pumped hydropower energy storage systems in coastal areas. The project focuses on developing innovative reversible pump/turbine technologies to support renewable energy integration and improve grid stability.
With a growing share of intermittent renewable energy sources grid stability can be maintained, and flexibility enhanced, by applying pumped hydropower energy storage.
