The ALPES project focuses on enhancing the prediction and calculation efficiency of aircraft loads during flight and on the ground. By improving load predictions, the project aims to enable the design of lighter and more efficient aircraft, contributing to environmental sustainability in aviation.
A European Industrial Doctoral (EID) network is proposed to improve the prediction, and also the efficiency in calculation, of aircraft loads.
The loads experienced by an aircraft in-flight (due to manoeuvres and gusts) and on the ground (e.g. landing, turning, braking) are the key element in determining the structural sizing and hence its weight.
