This project explores disordered quantum gases, focusing on Anderson localization of matterwaves in ultracold atoms. It aims to address unsolved issues in higher dimensions and the effects of inter-atomic interactions, while proposing new experimental approaches to advance the field.
The field of disordered quantum gases is developing rapidly.
Dramatic progress has been achieved recently and first experimental observation of one-dimensional Anderson localization (AL) of matterwaves has been reported using Bose-Einstein condensates in controlled disorder (in our group at Institut d'Optique and at LENS;
Nature, 2008).
