The ALLERGENE project investigates the factors contributing to allergic diseases by analyzing genetic, environmental, and lifestyle influences from birth to young adulthood. It aims to identify risk factors and develop early intervention strategies for those at risk of allergic multimorbidity.
The prevalence of allergic diseases, such as atopic eczema, asthma and rhinitis, has increased over the past decades and is currently estimated to be up to 40%.
Prevention strategies play a pivotal role, as there are no curative treatments available.
