This project develops a network of low-cost sensors to monitor the emissions of volatile organic compounds from forests. By capturing spatial and temporal variations, it aims to enhance understanding of forest-atmosphere interactions, contributing to climate change and air quality research.
Forested ecosystems play a central role in the Earth system.
However, whether for the regulation of atmospheric carbon dioxide, the uptake of ozone or the emission of reactive carbon, small-scale variability inherent in forests makes their parameterisation in models difficult.
