The ALFAMA project focuses on developing innovative flexible solar arrays to meet the growing power demands of space missions. By enhancing power-to-mass ratios and integrating advanced photovoltaic technologies, it aims to improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of solar energy systems in spacecraft.
More and more missions require power supply > 25 kW such as solar electrical propulsion, high throughput satellites.
However, the restricted volume between the fairing and the spacecraft sidewall limits the number & the dimension of rigid solar panels during launch.
