This project aims to understand the physics behind brief radio bursts from neutron stars and extragalactic sources. It will enhance detection capabilities and provide precise localization to investigate the origins of these mysterious phenomena.
In our largely unchanging radio Universe, a highly dynamic component was recently discovered: flashes of bright radio emission that last only milliseconds but appear all over the sky.
Some of these radio bursts can be traced to intermittently pulsating neutron stars.
Other bursts however, apparently originate far outside our Galaxy.
