This project seeks to develop alternative sources of natural rubber from the dandelion species Taraxacum koksaghyz. It focuses on improving rubber yield through plant breeding and innovative cultivation techniques to ensure a sustainable supply for the European market.
Natural rubber is an essential commodity for the European society.
However, the natural rubber market is seriously endangered.
Finding an alternative rubber source for the rubber tree is an urgent issue for EU.
The EU has funded several projects on alternative rubber crops in the past.
Taraxacum koksaghyz (TKS) was identified as the most promising alternative.
