This project explores color symbolism among African hunter-gatherers to enhance understanding of pigment use in southern African archaeology. It examines the role of color in rituals and cosmology, focusing on gender dynamics and the significance of perceptual properties in cultural practices.
I plan to investigate colour symbolism among African hunter-gatherers (AHGs), using the results to help interpret findings of my previous archaeological research on southern African pigment use before, during, and after our morphologically diagnosed speciation.
