Agricam AB has developed a sensor solution using thermal imaging to detect mastitis in dairy cows early, improving animal welfare and reducing antibiotic use. This technology enables continuous monitoring of herds, aiming to enhance farm efficiency and milk quality while minimizing economic losses.
Mastitis, a potentially fatal mammary gland infection, is the most common disease in dairy cows, usually resulting from bacteria introduced either during the milking process or from environmental contact.
It affects at least one in three dairy cows throughout Europe and has a big economic impact on farms, causing very large losses in milk production and degradation in milk quality.
