This project aims to develop an environmentally friendly method to eliminate Bacillus anthracis spores from contaminated areas. By using specific phages and germinants, it seeks to reduce spore numbers and enhance safety in regions affected by anthrax.
Anthrax, caused by the spore forming bacterium Bacillus anthracis, is a disease of animals which can infect humans either directly through contact with infected animals or indirectly as a consequence of bioterrorism.
