This project investigates the link between muscle weakness and adrenal insufficiency in critically ill patients. By exploring shared mechanisms, it aims to develop treatments that address both conditions simultaneously, improving recovery outcomes for patients in intensive care.
Sepsis, complicated surgery or extensive trauma cause hyperinflammation-induced critical illness which requires vital organ support in an intensive care unit (ICU) in order to avoid imminent death.
