This project explores how the brain processes and integrates thermal and tactile sensory information in mice. By examining neural mechanisms from sensory neurons to behavior, it aims to understand multisensory perception and how different sensory modalities are combined.
Sensory perception involves the discrimination and binding of multiple modalities of sensory input.
This is especially evident in the somatosensory system where different modalities of sensory input, including thermal and mechanosensory, are combined to generate a unified percept.
