This research project examines the practice of sending second-generation migrants back to their countries of heritage as a disciplinary measure. It aims to understand how these experiences shape their identities and integration within host societies.
‘Displacing Deviance…’ is a state-of-the-art research project into transnational family practices.
It examines ‘disciplinary return’ - young second-generation migrants sent ‘home’ to their countries of heritage by their parents as a disciplinary measure – a widespread practice which has not yet been the focus of direct research.
